Structure Finder for Minecraft Java & Bedrock

Pick a structure and the finder lists the closest ones on your seed, with X/Z coordinates and the distance to each, measured from spawn, from where you are, or from any point on the map.

Open the Structure Finder

How to use it

  1. Open the Structure Finder with the button above, enter your seed, and set the edition and version to match your world.
  2. Choose a structure: village, stronghold, ancient city, trial chambers, woodland mansion, ocean monument, nether fortress, bastion, End city and more.
  3. Choose where the distance is measured from: the world spawn, the centre of the map, or coordinates you type in, such as your position from the F3 screen.
  4. Run the search. The nearest matches come back as a list with coordinates and distance; select one to move the map there.
  5. Copy the coordinates and head there, or share the page link, which keeps the seed and the view.

Good to know

Minecraft doesn't scatter structures at random. For most of them the world is divided into a grid of regions, each region gets one attempt at a spot worked out from the seed, and a biome check at that spot decides whether anything is built. That is why a village only appears in a handful of biomes such as plains, desert and savanna, and why an ocean monument always sits in deep ocean. The finder runs those same rules for your seed, so it knows where every structure is before a single chunk has been loaded.

The same seed number gives different results on Java and Bedrock, because the two editions place structures with different formulas. Setting the edition and version is the one step that matters most.

Nether structures are listed in Nether coordinates. One block there is eight in the Overworld, so a fortress 300 blocks away in the Nether is a 2,400-block trip on the surface. The Nether portal calculator converts between the two.

FAQ

What structures can the structure finder locate?

Villages, strongholds, ancient cities, trial chambers, woodland mansions, ocean monuments, pillager outposts, desert and jungle temples, witch huts, igloos, shipwrecks, ocean ruins, ruined portals, trail ruins and buried treasure in the Overworld; nether fortresses and bastions in the Nether; and End cities in the End.

Is this the same as the /locate command?

It answers the same question without needing a world. /locate only works where cheats are on and gives one result; this works from the seed alone — before you create the world, or on a server where commands are off — and lists several matches with their distances.

How do I find the structure closest to me?

Read your position — F3 on Java, or turn on Show Coordinates in the world settings on Bedrock — and use it as the starting point. The list is sorted by distance from there, so the first entry is the one to head for.

Does the structure finder work on Bedrock?

Yes. Choose Bedrock and your version before searching. Bedrock places most structures at different coordinates than Java does for the same seed number, so a result is only right for the edition it was found on.
