Bastion Finder for Minecraft: Every Bastion Remnant on Your Seed
Enter your seed and every bastion remnant in the Nether shows up with its coordinates and its type, so you can head for the nearest one, or the treasure room, before you light a portal.
How to use it
- Open the bastion finder with the button above. The map switches to the Nether and shows bastion markers only.
- Enter your seed and choose Java or Bedrock and the version your world runs.
- Read each bastion's type from its icon or popup: treasure, bridge, hoglin stables or housing units.
- To find the nearest one, use your Nether coordinates as the starting point and list bastions by distance.
- Planning from the Overworld? Multiply the bastion's X and Z by 8, build a portal there, and it opens close to the bastion.
Good to know
In Java, bastions share their placement with nether fortresses. The Nether is split into large regions and each region holds one of the two, with bastions the more common pick. A bastion can generate in every Nether biome except the basalt deltas, so a region whose spot lands in a delta never gets one.
There are four bastion layouts. The treasure room is the one most players want: its central chest holds the best loot the structure has. The bridge, hoglin stables and housing units layouts have smaller chests spread around, and piglin brutes spawn in all four. Gold armor keeps ordinary piglins calm, but brutes attack regardless.
Bastion chests are the only place to find the Netherite Upgrade smithing template, which you need to turn diamond gear into netherite, along with the Pigstep music disc and the snout armor trim. That makes an early bastion trip worth planning, and the map shows which one is closest before you commit.
Known limitations
- Markers give X and Z only. Bastions are large and often half-buried in netherrack or hanging over lava, so expect to search a little once you arrive.
- Bastions were added in 1.16. In an older world that was upgraded, Nether chunks you had already explored won't contain them.
- Chest contents aren't predicted: the map tells you which layout a bastion has, not what its chests will hold.
FAQ
Which biomes do bastion remnants spawn in?
Any Nether biome except basalt deltas: nether wastes, soul sand valleys, crimson forests and warped forests. Deltas are the one place the finder never shows a bastion.
How do I find the nearest bastion to my Nether portal?
Stand at your portal in the Nether, read your X and Z (F3 on Java, or Show Coordinates on Bedrock), and use them as the starting point. Bastions come back sorted by distance, nearest first.
Which bastion type has the best loot?
The treasure room. Its main chest, in the middle of the structure, can hold netherite ingots, ancient debris and enchanted diamond gear. The other three layouts have smaller chests, and any of them can still give you the Netherite Upgrade template.
Are bastions in the same place on Java and Bedrock?
No. The two editions place them differently for the same seed number, so pick your edition before trusting a marker. The layouts and the loot are much the same on both.
