Minecraft Sulfur Caves Finder

Sulfur Caves is the new cave biome in Minecraft Java 26.2 "Chaos Cubed" and Bedrock 26.30 — and because it generates almost entirely underground, a normal surface seed map never shows it. ezseed's free browser map does: switch the biome height to Underground and the whole map redraws at cave depth, Sulfur Caves included. Turn on the highlight and the biome glows yellow while everything else dims, so even small patches jump out. No download, no account — paste your seed, find the nearest patch, note the coordinates, and dig. It works for both Java and Bedrock, and if you just want to see the biome right now, the example seed below drops you next to a big cluster.

How to use it

  1. Open the ezseed map and enter your seed. Pick your edition and version — Java 26.2+ or Bedrock 26.30+.
  2. Set the biome height selector to Underground. Sulfur Caves only generates at cave depth, so the surface view won't show it.
  3. In the LAYERS rail, open Highlight Biomes > Cave > Sulfur Caves. The biome lights up yellow while the rest of the map dims.
  4. Pan around spawn until a yellow patch shows up. Center the map on it — the URL updates so you can share or bookmark the spot.
  5. In-game, head to those coordinates and dig to about Y -16 — the biome is densest there, spanning roughly Y 0 to Y -32.

Good to know

Sulfur Caves generates where the world's weirdness value is very low (-0.45 or below) combined with coastal-to-inland continentalness and medium-high erosion — which is why it's patchy rather than everywhere. Vertically it sits between roughly Y 0 and Y -32, densest around Y -16, and only rarely breaks the surface under high, flat terrain. It's the home of the new sulfur and cinnabar blocks, so knowing exactly where to dig saves a lot of blind branch-mining.

On the ezseed map, the biome height selector has three levels: Surface, Underground, and Bottom (Y -51). Sulfur Caves shows at Underground, where the map renders biomes at cave depth, and the yellow highlight makes small clusters easy to spot even at low zoom. Want a guaranteed example first? Load seed 5929416855530060270 — it has a large sulfur cluster near x=-592, z=368. Every view is a shareable URL — seed, position, zoom, and highlights are all saved in the link — so once you find a good cluster on your own seed, you can send the exact spot to a friend.

FAQ

Which Minecraft versions have Sulfur Caves?

Sulfur Caves was added in Minecraft Java 26.2 ("Chaos Cubed") and Bedrock 26.30, and the biome generates in the same places on both editions. On older versions it doesn't exist, so set the map's edition and version to match what you actually play before searching.

Why can't I see Sulfur Caves on the seed map?

It's a cave biome, so the default Surface view hides it. Switch the biome height selector to Underground and the map redraws biomes at cave depth. Turning on the Sulfur Caves highlight in the LAYERS rail also helps — small patches are easy to miss without it.

What Y level should I dig to for sulfur?

Dig to around Y -16 — that's where the biome is densest. Sulfur Caves generates from roughly Y 0 down to Y -32, so any mining tunnel in that band that crosses into the biome will reach it. That's also where you'll find the sulfur and cinnabar blocks.

Can I search for a seed with Sulfur Caves near spawn?

Yes. Open the FINDER panel on the right side of the map and set a biome-near-spawn criterion. It scans thousands of seeds against your filters and returns matches, so you can start a fresh world already knowing the biome is within reach of spawn.
