Minecraft Slime Chunk Finder (Java & Bedrock)

Slimes only spawn in certain chunks, and finding those chunks by hand — digging test rooms and waiting — wastes hours. ezseed's slime chunk finder skips that: enter your world seed, flip on the slime overlay, and every slime chunk lights up on the map. On Java, slime chunks are seed-specific — 1 in 10 chunks, calculated from your world seed — and slimes spawn there below Y=40 no matter the light level. On Bedrock, the pattern is fixed for every world, and the overlay shows that too. It's free, runs in your browser, needs no download or account, and supports Java 1.20 through 26.2 and Bedrock up to 26.30.

Open the slime chunk map

How to use it

  1. Open the map at ezseed.net, pick your edition (Java or Bedrock), and enter your world seed.
  2. Toggle the slime chunk overlay in the LAYERS rail on the left — or add sl=1 to the URL.
  3. Jump to your base with Goto coords; every slime chunk shows as a highlighted square on the grid.
  4. Pick a spot with several slime chunks close together and note the coordinates for your farm perimeter.
  5. Copy the URL to share the exact view — seed, position, and overlay state travel with the link.

Good to know

On Java, whether a chunk spawns slimes is baked into your seed: the game runs each chunk's coordinates and the world seed through a formula, and 1 in 10 chunks come out slime-positive. Inside those chunks, slimes spawn below Y=40 regardless of light level — which is why a fully lit room in the right chunk still produces slimes while the identical room one chunk over stays empty. Bedrock works differently: slime chunks come from chunk coordinates alone, so the pattern is identical in every Bedrock world and the overlay needs no seed at all. Either way, the map shows exactly where to dig before you break a single block. Use the distance measure tool to check a candidate spot against your base, and combine the overlay with structure markers if you want a farm near an outpost or village. The overlay state lives in the URL (sl=1), so a shared link opens with slime chunks already visible.

FAQ

Do slime chunks depend on the seed in Bedrock?

No. Bedrock computes slime chunks from chunk coordinates only, so every Bedrock world shares the same slime chunk pattern. Java is the opposite: the pattern is derived from your world seed, so each Java world needs its own map. ezseed handles both — pick your edition and the overlay adjusts.

Why aren't slimes spawning even though I'm in a slime chunk?

Check your height first: in slime chunks, slimes only spawn below Y=40. If you're deep enough, make sure you're standing inside the chunk the map shows — being one chunk off is the most common mistake. Light level isn't the issue; slime chunks spawn slimes regardless of light.

How many slime chunks are there?

On Java, 1 in 10 chunks is a slime chunk, scattered pseudo-randomly across the world based on your seed — most bases already have a few within walking distance, and the overlay makes them easy to spot. On Bedrock, the fixed pattern means the same chunks are slime chunks in every world.

Is the slime chunk finder free? Do I need to download anything?

Yes, it's completely free, and no — it runs in your browser with no download, mod, or account. It supports Java 1.20 through 26.2 and Bedrock up to 26.30, and everything you set — seed, position, overlay — is stored in the URL so you can bookmark or share your farm plan.
